Fiona Christie - Author
Thursday Mar 25, 2021
Thursday Mar 25, 2021
Each week we sit down with a guest to discuss Mission and Evangelism in Scotland and beyond.
Our guest this week is author Fiona Christie.
Fiona has recently released a book called "A Strange Unmaking: Ten Years In Colombia."
A Strange Unmaking is a collection of blogs, poems, reflections, journal entries and short stories written by an ordinary Scottish woman during the ten years she lived in the extraordinary country of Colombia. When Fiona Christie first visited Colombia she was beguiled by the beauty of land and the courtesy of the people. A three-week holiday led to a ten-year commitment, first teaching English in a Bible seminary and later equipping churches in poor areas affected by conflict to work with children. Every day Fiona found something fascinating to write about or a beautiful picture to share. But beneath the shimmering surface, decades of conflict had left the land soaked with blood and the nation bitterly divided. The weight of second-hand trauma began to take its toll on Fiona before she realised that she was being unmade to be re-made. A Strange Unmaking takes the reader beyond the stereotypes to a tragic, magical place and tells a determinedly untriumphalistic missionary story.

Thursday Feb 25, 2021
Joseph is the CEO of International Mission to the Jewish People, formerly Christian Witness to Isreal.
Raised in a Jewish home in the United States, at the age of 14 Joseph came to faith in Jesus as Messiah. At 18, Joseph began his work in Jewish mission as a member of the Jews for Jesus music group ‘The Liberated Wailing Wall’, which gave him the opportunity to share Jesus in 49 out of the 50 US states.
After graduating from the Moody Bible Institute’s School of World Missions in Chicago, he served for three years as a missionary with CWI and for the last 25 years has worked with various churches and mission organisations in the UK.
Joseph is a graduate of Trinity College, Bristol and was ordained in the Church of England where he served as the minister of a parish church in London, UK. During that time he co-authored The Y Course and its companion book, The Book of Y – a seeker course used by over 6000 churches in the UK. He is also the author of Psalms: Cries from the Heart and the evangelistic booklet That’s Y Jesus came.
While UK director of Jews for Jesus, Joseph led several large evangelistic campaigns in both London and Manchester, during which hundreds of people made professions of faith. He has served as the Director for Mission Stewardship at the Church Mission Society (CMS), another role driven by his passion to see lives changed by the gospel.
Joseph is a gifted and inspirational communicator. He has preached and shared extensively across the UK, including at both the Oxford and Cambridge Inter-Collegiate Christian Unions, as well as at numerous churches internationally, particularly across Europe, America and the Far East.
